Tomorrow (Saturday), I'm travelling up to Macclesfield Forest for the 2nd Interland Selection. For those of you who don't know, Interland is and international competition between a number of european countries (England, 2 Belgian teams, the Netherlands, NW Germany and France). It is one of England's 2 matches in the year and the only one abroad.

I can see where the climb's coming from now! |
From what I can tell, the race will be vastly more physical than it is technical. The course (Short Brown) will be 7.1km 425m climb and 15 controls, so even looking just at that you can see from the amount of climb it will be a tough race. Having said this though, I hope I've learnt from my mistake last Sunday and I am taking a different approach in that I hope to focus solely on the navigation and just ensure I spike every control, and really take no notice of my speed as I don't think speed is where this race will be won.
In preparation for this, I've had really quite and easy week, only clocking up roughly 30km and about 400m climb so feeling pretty fresh for the race with a rest yesterday and just a steady cruise around the roads today. There'll be some stiff competition there with Michael Adams, Michael Hallett, Adam Bartlett and Hamish Rogers also competing for the Interland spots (2 available I think but don't quote me on that). Also Clive Hallett and Charlie Adams also competing so I'm quite looking forward to seeing how close I can get to there times or if I could even beat either of them. So, that's about it, onwards and upwards...
